You Need To Get Your Foundations Straight...
You need to get your foundations straight. Your foundations are what your life is built on. It's the core underlining concrete that will facilitate growth on top of it, and if your foundations aren't as strong as they can be, whatever you try to build on top will crumble before your very eyes.
The 4 Pillars Of A Successful Life
Everyone’s definition of a successful, fulfilling life is different. For some, it's a big family, for others, a successful career, and for a few, world domination. Whatever your definition, there are still a few core fundamental pillars that will lead to a successful life that, if you can master them, you’re creating the perfect foundation, the perfect base to add whatever topping you like.
Self-Affirmations: The Truth
Affirmations, or self-affirmations, can be defined as statements that we repeat to ourselves to help us shift the way we're thinking to be more like something. It’s essentially the process of pretending you are something, whether that be successful or generous before you actually are that and attempting to almost trick your brain into thinking you are that with the hopes that because of your thoughts, you will become such.
The Self-Serving Bias
You’re probably familiar with self-serving bias, even if you don’t know it by name. A self-serving bias is the common habit of a person taking credit for positive events or outcomes but blaming outside factors for negative events. Just from reading that, you can probably picture a friend who has this problem. Maybe you are the friend who blames everything bad that happens on someone else but loves to suck up the credit for all the good outcomes.
You Are Given $24 A Day
You are intrinsically given $24 a day to spend wherever you like, and depending on where you spend that $24 will determine the direction that your life goes in. You automatically spend $8 of it on sleep, which only leaves you with $16 leftover, so you have the choice to spend those $16 however you like.
You Have To Go 1 Step Back To Go 2 Steps Forward
This is a weird one; it sounds very contradictory, although there's an important lesson behind it. The most dangerous place to be in life isn't at rock bottom; it isn't reaping off success; it's slap bang in the middle. The most dangerous position to be in in life is average—not the best, but not uncomfortable enough to want to change.
Bring On Boredom
We naturally avoid boredom at all costs because the thought of doing something is better than the thought of doing nothing at all. People used to have to be creative to fight boredom, but now it’s almost too easy. To escape it, all we need to do is pick up a supercomputer in our pockets, and we can access anything.
