🌳 How to Habit Stack
In 2007, researchers at Oxford University started peering into the brains of newborn babies. and after comparing the newborn brains to the normal adult human, the researchers realized that the average adult had 41 per cent fewer neurons than the average newborn. At first glance, this discovery didn't make sense. If babies have more neurons, then why are adults smarter and more skilled?
🌳 The Ladder Law
Character growth determines the height of your personal growth. Growing and developing your character gives you outsize leverage over all the other aspects of growth and contribution and everything that you’re working towards. You should pay much more attention to your character than your success.
🌳 What is the spotlight effect?
The spotlight effect is a term used by social psychologists to refer to the tendency we have to overestimate how much other people notice about us. In other words, we tend to think there is a spotlight on us at all times, highlighting all of our mistakes or flaws, for all the world to see.
🌳 Measure backwards, not forward
The problem with measuring forward however is pretty obvious… No one can predict the future, therefore, it’s much more effective to make a judgement based on where we currently are compared to where we previously were. Using this type of measurement will help you to determine your next move because you’ve done it in a scientific way, you’ve carried out your experiment (let’s say trying a new routine at the gym) and no you can measure and assess how that affected you and take the perfect step forward.
🌳 How To Control Your Timeline
Stop waiting for the stars to align and for things to fall into your lap before you take action. Chances are if you have any ambitions or goals that you want to achieve, you’re waiting for ‘the perfect moment’ or for when ‘the time feels right’ although you tend to forget that nothing is stopping you from dropping dead tomorrow. It’s a harsh truth but a reality for you.
🌳 The Wim Hof Breathing Method
The method was created by Wim Hof, a Dutch extreme athlete. He believes you can accomplish incredible feats by developing command over your body, breath, and mind through the use of specific breathing techniques and tolerance to extreme temperatures. The goal of the Wim Hof Method breathing technique is to teach you to develop mastery over your nervous, immune, and cardiovascular systems to help you be happier, stronger, and healthier.
🌳 The Goldilocks Rule: How To Stay Motivated
The human brain loves a challenge, but only if it is within an optimal zone of difficulty. If you love tennis and try to play a serious match against a four-year-old, you will quickly become bored. It’s too easy. You’ll win every point. In contrast, if you play a professional tennis player like Roger Federer or Serena Williams, you will quickly lose motivation because the match is too difficult.
