Good morning, Good evening, or whenever you’re reading this, today’s topic of conversation is how being in a relationship can impact your mission towards success. If you’re an ambitious person with some sort of goal whether that be to build a business or compete In a competition, your mission will be your main focus, It will be your sole reason for waking up in the morning and the final thing you think about before going to sleep and the last thing you will want is for something to side step into that vision and cause you to lose direct focus.

But… Life happens & relationships happen so what is the impact on you as a young entrepreneur?

There are pros and cons to being in a relationship whilst on your mission to achieve greatness and it’s a pretty controversial one at that, so let’s settle it…

CONS

Let’s face it, a relationship can become a burden to you on your mission, the main reason being is because it requires you to become selfless, It requires you to slightly split your focus between someone that you love and your purpose in life and that can be one of the hardest things to do especially when you have no guarantee that the relationship itself will work out long term.

But that’s the risk you have to play, you should be pretty familiar to risk at this point since striving for something unique and ambitious is risky in itself. The main problem is typically that your partner will become hungrier for your time and attention especially when your attention is split, a way to get around this is just to set your boundaries and expectations for the relationship so that there is no future shock.

PROS

Being in a relationship can be a massive accelerant to you on your journey and the right person can provide all the support that you need to cushion the downs and celebrate the ups with you. Being on a mission especially as a young person comes with more challenges than one can even imagine and if you’ve ever heard the saying ‘If you want to go fast go alone, but if you want to go far go together’, It couldn’t be more true in this case.

The question you have to ask yourself is are you playing the long-term game or the longer-term game because finding ‘that person’ as early on as possible that’s going to support you on your journey will allow you to build together and fall together but most importantly reap the rewards together which is a feeling like no other.
