HOW TO START A SIDE-HUSTLE

385 Words | 1 Min 24 Sec Read

Starting a side hustle is something thatā€™s been floating around social media for years now, Itā€™s the idea of doing something that gives you income alongside what youā€™re already doing, whether youā€™re in education, working a job or pursuing something already but want the extra income, Itā€™s a foolproof method to not over-commit to something that may not work out.

So how the hell do you start a side hustle?

There is no playbook but there are a few things to remember when starting out, the first being that there is no ā€˜golden business modelā€™. Despite what you may see or hear from others, no one business will change your life because it is so much better than the rest. The truth is however that most of them, if not all of them work and the deciding factor is that some have better attributes than others that will benefit you more long term.

For example, Amazon FBA and SMIP both work, they are both legitimate ways to make income online however with one of them you have to buy and sell products and the other build and sell services which begs the question; Which one suits you more?

What NOT to do

When starting a side hustle, the most common mistake people make is trying to go ā€˜full timeā€™ way too soon. They will see a spark of success and assume that itā€™s a sign to drop everything and go full speed ahead with that business.

Now there is a catch-22 to it as you have to take an element of risk when no one else thinks itā€™s smart to, but you also canā€™t put all of your eggs in one basket, therefore, finding that sweet spot is crucial.

How to scale

The goal of scaling a side hustle is to get it to the point where it becomes a full-time hustle and in order to do that you have to slowly decrease the thing that is making it a side hustle and increase the time you put into the hustle itself.

Most importantly, you have to treat it like a full-time hustle, you have to have the mindset that it is your full-time gig and it will stay that way.

ACTIONABLE NEXT STEPS:

So where do you go from here?

Education. Dedicate 10 hours to non-stop education because as ridiculous as it seems, itā€™s most definitely needed.

From there donā€™t be afraid to take action, and donā€™t get stuck in the procrastination trap not feeling ready enough to take the next step.

TAKEAWAYS:

Starting a side hustle is not as big of a leap as you think it may be, all it takes is education and implementation.
