So, You Want To Start a Business?...

There is an abundance of business BS on the internet; there are too many videos, too many different business models, and too many different opinions and perspectives, which for you, the person who just wants to make an income online and separate from any job, makes it increasingly difficult to see clearly enough in order to get started.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

“The way you become like all the people you admire is through being you - because that’s exactly what they did”

There is an abundance of business BS on the internet; there are too many videos, too many different business models, and too many different opinions and perspectives, which for you, the person who just wants to make an income online and separate from any job, makes it increasingly difficult to see clearly enough in order to get started.

However, the common pattern amongst all of this online business noise is that you’re just packing up and selling your skills in fancy different manners.

Therefore, we wanted to provide you with clarity on where to start if you want to start some kind of online business.

Here are the steps you need to take…

Find and qualify your skill.

This is step no. 1. You need to assess and qualify what skill you already have or want to have because this is going to be the foundation of what you choose to sell.

Your skill is your value, and therefore, if you want to be highly valued, you need to make sure that you choose the right skill to allow you to do that.

If you’re lost, start with what you’re good at and what other people need. If you have a skill that fits into those two categories, you’re good to go!

Sharpen your skill.

Next, you need to sharpen up your skill. No matter how good or bad you are at your skill, you can always be better. Therefore, it's time to go back to school and learn as much as you possibly can to perfect that skill.

You can use platforms like YouTube, Skillshare, and Udemy to learn.

Get as good as you possibly can at the skill that you chose.

Skill stack.

Next, you need to perform a skill stack, and to save you reading a long paragraph on how to do so, check out this newsletter, where we cover it in detail.

Find the right market.

Now you need to find the right market to sell your skills in, as your skills are only as valuable as the context in which you sell them.

This means that you could have the skill of growing social media and work for a company to get paid $500 a month for it, or you could start an agency and get four clients that each pay you $1000 a month in a different industry, one that demands your skills more.

Create your offer.

Now you need to create your no-brainer offer. What is your skill is going to achieve for the person who needs it?

If your skill is being really good at football and you teach people who want to get good at football, your offer is that you’ll make them good at football.

Get it?

You have to uncover what it is that your ideal customer wants and the problems that they have, and then sell them the solution!

Sell that skill!

ACTIONABLE NEXT STEPS:

If you want to start a business, take a breather and do the following:

  • Find and qualify your skill (What is your skill, and can it be sold to someone?).

  • Sharpen your skill (get bloddy good at it).

  • Skill stack (make your skills more valuable)

  • Find the right market. (Where can you sell your skills for the most money?)

  • Create your offer (make someone WANT your skill).

TAKEAWAYS:

This is obviously a very quick cut on how to sell your skills but the same principle stands, don’t try and start the next business model.

Instead start with what you already know and figure out a way to monatise it, this way you’re making money doing something you love and something you can actually do, as its your skill!

LESSON OF THE DAY ⤵️

‘Is it normal to feel overwhelmed when learning a new skill?

How do I overcome that feeling?’

Anonymous

The answer is yes & the solution is to embrace it.

Being overwhelmed is the result of consuming new information

Embrace feeling overwhelmed as you are diving into a new world, something you haven’t experienced before, which means if you weren't slightly overwhelmed, then you wouldn’t be putting yourself in enough of a deep end.
