🌳 How to Increase your value

QUOTE OF THE DAY

“If you are working on something that you really care about, you don’t have to be pushed. The vision pulls you.”Steve Jobs

In simple terms, it's similar to the saying 'you never work a day in your life', when you find that thing that drives you it feels effortless to pursue it regardless of the setbacks, failures or any other tribulations that come with it.

SKILL STACKING

Every skill has a value to it, a value that makes it worth what it is.

For example, being a barista is a skill worth roughly $30,000 a year, being a car salesman is a skill worth roughly $40,000 a year, and being a marketing manager for a firm is worth roughly $60,000 a year. Each skill has an appointed value to it at what it's currently worth in the market.

The reason this is relevant is that all you need to do to make more money is to search for valuable skills, not skills that are only dependent on the market or generic but skills that are evergreen and highly valuable in other people's eyes. This way you can instantly manipulate your worth to other people and furthermore,

you can start to stack these skills to make yourself more valuable.

Treat it as if it's a puzzle, each skill that you learn has certain shaped sides and edges that align very well with other certain skills. If you can learn the skills that have the most universal sides and edges to stack other skills on top you can 'skill stack' (essentially making yourself become more valuable.

For example, if your fundamental skill was Sales, it would be a very good universal one because every industry needs a salesman and if you were to learn the skills of software you would now be able to stack those skills and become a software salesman! This increases your underlining value as your skill value is dependent on its uniqueness.

The trick is to have some universal skills and some very specific niche skills that you can stack on top.

This makes your skillset very valuable and evergreen (you can always stack more skills on top or pivot entirely).

From an entrepreneurship standpoint, you could learn something like sales or social media marketing or brand building (there are endless opportunities) and then pair it with the skill of understanding a specific Industry. This way you've perfectly performed a skill stack and increased your own value.

ACTIONABLE NEXT STEPS:

The next step is to choose your skills, as mentioned the best way to go about doing it is to pick one universal skill and one more niched skill that you can pair together.

Do some research and understand the market as best as you can which will provide clarity on what skills to focus on.

TAKEAWAYS:

All value is driven from having skills, the more valuable they are, the more valuable you are.
