The Contradictions of Success

Success is one massive contradiction. It requires you to sacrifice your happiness now for happiness later on; it requires you to give up things you love in order for greater things down the line; and it also requires you to do things that you don’t want to do in order to end up doing things you do want to do.

THE CONTRADICTIONS OF SUCCESS

371 Words | 1 Min 21 Sec Read

Success is one massive contradiction.

It requires you to sacrifice your happiness now for happiness later on; it requires you to give up things you love in order for greater things down the line; and it also requires you to do things that you don’t want to do in order to end up doing things you do want to do.

Although that all sounds quite miserable, it’s all part of the process, but there is one contradiction that is much less frequently talked about:

That is the contradiction: you must have extreme paranoia about the present and also have an unshakable faith in the future.

You must acknowledge that your present circumstances can change in the blink of an eye, especially when you least expect it.

So, be vigilant, embrace every opportunity, and constantly look for ways to adapt to fit the current market.

This doesn’t mean that you’re changing your end goal, but simply that you’re finding another vehicle to take you to that end destination.

But at the same time, you must be 100% confident in your future success, no matter what anyone says or whoever gets in the way.

You must be borderline delusional in your own ability to succeed despite having little to no proof and little to no one to back you up.

That is the biggest contradiction of success that there is—fear and belief all mixed into one.

If you can master the two of them, then you’re right where you need to be.

TAKEAWAYS:

The truth is that most of it doesn’t make sense, the signs will tell you to go left and right at the same time which is why its incredibly important that you define your own meaning of success and stop letting people define it for you.

Once you truly know what you want, you can make the right decisions to help push you one step closer to that goal.

LESSON OF THE DAY ⤵️

How do you stop bad habits from getting in the way of your work/life?

- Anonymous

Very rarely can you just ‘stop bad habits’.

More often than not, you need to replace them.

For example a smoker doesn’t go from smoking to not smoking in the blink of an eye, they try other, less harmful habits such as vaping, wearing nicotine patches or when they do go cold turkey they tend to pick up un-wanted habits such as biting fingernails or eating junk food.

The best way to get rid of a bad habit is to slowly but surly replace it with a better one that gives you the same satisfaction but an entirely different outcome.
