THE IMPORTANCE OF YOUR SYSTEMS

We have systems for everything in life; we have systems for brushing our teeth, putting on our clothes, getting to work—it’s routine actions that you carry out throughout your day-to-day life.

The quote: “You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.” James Clear puts the importance of systems into perspective.

Hes basically saying that no matter how big your goals are, if you haven’t created systems that allow you to fulfil those goals, then the goals really matter in the first place; therefore, it's your systems that should be priority no.1

Let's say you set the goal to run a marathon in 2 months, but you haven’t created any kind of system to allow you to train for that marathon; you haven’t made any time; you don't have the right gear; you don’t have the right kind of training split; aka, you have no systems.

If you want to make your life easier and more attainable to achieve your goals, then you have to look at your systems first.

Your systems aren't, however, just the routine that you make; they are also your environment, the people around you, and your habits.

Think about it like this: goals are just the end product of the results you want to achieve; systems are about the processes that lead to those results.

So, how do you create systems to help you achieve your goals?

Although that’s a big topic in itself, there are some tips that you can take on board to make a start, such as:

Make it easier to take action. Instead of getting home from work and having to get all of your gym gear together, lay out your clothes before work so that it's easier for you to take action.

Put yourself in an environment of action. If you’re around people taking action and making moves, you’ll find it far easier to do it yourself.

Those two tips are small stepping stones to the bigger picture, but nonetheless a good place to start.

ACTIONABLE NEXT STEPS:

If you want to achieve your goals and make your life easier in doing so, look at your systems and identify whether they are helping make your goals a reality or preventing them.

When you want to achieve something new, look at your systems as step one. Remember, goals are just the end product of the results you want to achieve; systems are about the processes that lead to those results.

LESSON OF THE DAY ⤵️

“How do I find a new group of people who I can talk about goals and the future with?”

Anonymous

You need to hang out where those people would be which is actually a lot easier than you think.

Take a look at the influencers online that you look up to and join their groups & communities - chances are that you’re going to find other like-minded people that are on the same mission as you.

Another great way to find likeminded people is to put yourself out there, share your personality, your story and your mission and you’ll find that others will magnetize to you.

Or just stay tuned for Kaizen Connected, launching on April 29th - you’ll find just the right people there.
