š³ The 'Seinfeld Strategy' - How To Stay Consistent
Jerry Seinfeld is one of the most successful comedians of all time. He is regarded as one of the top comedians and tv producers of all time and according to Forbes, Seinfeld reached his peak in earnings when he made $267 million dollars in 1998. (Yes, that was in one year. No, that's not a typo.) A full 10 years later, in 2008, Seinfeld was still pulling in a cool $85 million per year.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

THE SEINFELD STRATEGY

Jerry Seinfeld is one of the most successful comedians of all time.
He is regarded as one of the top comedians and tv producers of all time and according to Forbes, Seinfeld reached his peak in earnings when he made $267 million dollars in 1998. (Yes, that was in one year. No, that's not a typo.) A full 10 years later, in 2008, Seinfeld was still pulling in a cool $85 million per year.
You would in conclusion call the man somewhat successful. However, what is most impressive about Seinfeld's career isn't the awards or the earnings, it's the remarkable consistency of it all. Show after show, year after year, he performs, creates, and entertains at an incredibly high standard.
Compare his results to where you and I often find ourselves. We want to create, but struggle to do so. We want to exercise but fail to find motivation. Wanting to achieve our goals, but ā for some reason or another ā we still procrastinate on them. And this is where the āSeinfeld Strategyā comes in which is the secret to his productivity, performance and consistency.

Seinfeld used an action-focused strategy where he put up a big calendar on his wall and for every day he wrote (to improve his jokes) he would mark it with a big X, after a period of time a chain started to develop of him successfully writing every single day which helped him to develop his one focus: Donāt break the chain. That was his one goal. (Notice how there is no result in that).
It didnāt matter if he was motivated or not. It didnāt matter if he was writing great jokes or not. It didn't matter if what he was working on would ever make it into a show. All that mattered was ānot breaking the chain.ā And that's one of the simple secrets behind Seinfeld's remarkable productivity and consistency. For years, the comedian simply focused on ānot breaking the chain.ā
ACTIONABLE NEXT STEPS:
Try it yourself, grab a calendar (hereās an inexpensive one) and decide what it is that you know you need to stay consistent at and start doing it every day and marking it when you do. Finally, donāt break the chain!
TAKEAWAYS:
Breaking it down youāll understand that youāre just gamifying your consistency and growth, so figure out a way in which it works for you - It doesnāt have to be putting a big red X on your calendar, but it can be.
