You need to wake up earlier ☀

QUOTE OF THE DAY

'A man who dares to waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life.'

- Charles Darwin

In simple terms, time is finite in fact, the only resource that every single person you have ever come into contact with has a limited amount of and therefore it should be held at the highest value.

Does waking up at 5am make you more successful?!

Waking up before sunrise has always been an interesting topic, for some it's seen as a way to get more hours out of the day and for others it's seen as part of the 'toxic hustle culture' but striping it down to basic facts, does it make you a more successful person?

Annoyingly with a lot of these 'life hacks' its all dependent on the person. For the people that wake up early, they say it allows them to extract more hours from the day and also start off with no distractions BUT they also tend to hit the hay earlier, caring about productivity means caring about sleep which means that they are well aware that 8+ hours of sleep is necessary. These people also tend to naturally be early risers which allows them to function best.

On the other side of the table, you have the people that wake up at an average time between 7-9am and be aware - there is nothing wrong with this! As productivity is measured by the amount of efficient and effective work you can get done it makes sense to play to the rules of your own body. If you naturally wake up mid-morning and are switched on and ready to go then more power to you! If it works for you then there's no reason to compare it with other people's schedules.

At the end of the day there is no harm to try both, if you're naturally a mid-morning riser, set yourself a challenge to wake up before sunrise for just 1-2 weeks and if you see significant improvements in your overall day then you've just unlocked a new level to yourself. On the other hand, if you force yourself to wake up before sunrise because you saw that bill gates did it back in the 1980's try to not set an alarm and see when your body naturally wakes up and evaluate your day from there. It's all about finding what works for you, A/B split test yourself!

TAKEAWAYS:

The takeaway from this is to understand yourself and experiment, you will never know how you perform best unless you continue to alter the variables, self-improvement is about changing the attributes of your life little bit by bit to see what has a positive impact otherwise you stay bog standard with no upgrades or improvements!

Also, be sure to not be easily influenced by books or videos that sell you the idea of 'becoming successful by waking up early', consume and evaluate
