HOW TO MAKE EVERY DAY BETTER THAN THE LAST

462 Words | 1 Min 41 Sec

If you want to make tomorrow the best, most productive day possible then you need to plan for It the night before otherwise, well, you’re just winging it.

Why is that?

To have a productive day you need to get sh*t done and to get sh*t done, you need to have structure to your days and more importantly, have that structure set out the day before so here is how to set up a good day the night before.

Write down tomorrow’s 3:3:3 plan

  • 3 hours on your most important project

  • 3 Shorter tasks

  • 3 Maintenance activities

This is a good way to break up your day and give it meaning. 3 hours on your most important project can be anything you deem it to but it has to be something that moves the needle forward. Typically this is your passion, or what you’re working on that gives you meaning during the day. Try to separate it from your career or some sort of job as if the work you’re doing is filling someone else’s pockets then It doesn’t classify as an important project.

Defining a ‘productive day"‘ is also crucial or else you’ll never be at peace even with excellent output. Chose what you consider to be a ‘good day’ so you know that once you hit that marker you can be pleased with yourself and set up for the next day.

Create a shutdown ritual

Creating a short shutdown ritual is important for a few reasons, firstly is because separating your life and work is key. Those who make working a priority in life tend to merge the two and end up living life but being present in their work. This small habit will snowball into habits that will become harder to climb out of.

The second reason is that creating a ritual, a pattern that helps you to wind down will become extremely effective. You will start to signal to yourself and create your own ques for when your body should relax. This will ultimately make it easier to relax = better sleep = more rest = higher levels of productivity.

Give your mind an overnight task

Upon closing your eyes, give your mind a job to do because going to sleep can be hard when you have nothing to think about because well, you inevitably end up thinking about everything and anything.

So set a topic and task to think about

‘How might I make an extra 1k each month?’

Don’t try to solve it then; just release it into your subconscious and let it do the work.

It doesn't mean you’ll wake up in the morning with a whole business plan but you’re feeding threads of thought into your own head that could develop into something fantastic.

ACTIONABLE NEXT STEPS:

Get something like a journal or a calendar (physical or not is up to you) so you can visualise your days in advance.

TAKEAWAYS:

Plan your day the night before.
