As you progress in life, you will become addicted to the fat paycheck, and it will determine where you go, how you think, and what you do. Eventually, the time that was not spent on learning skills and otherwise spent chasing the dollar will catch up with you, and the fall will be painful.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

“A leader is best when people barely know he exists, when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say: we did it ourselves.”

VALUE LEARNING ABOVE EVERYTHING ELSE

428 Words | 1 Min 30 Sec Read

As you progress in life, you will become addicted to the fat paycheck, and it will determine where you go, how you think, and what you do.

Eventually, the time that was not spent on learning skills and otherwise spent chasing the dollar will catch up with you, and the fall will be painful.

Instead, you must value learning above everything else because this will lead you to make all of the right choices that will set up your future. Prioritising learning will make you automatically opt for the situation that will give you the most opportunities to learn, particularly with hands-on work, and it's that hands-on work that will pay you dividends.

It’s easy to tunnel vision on the instant result of working a month for a month's worth of wages, but it's 10 times as beneficial to work for the knowledge and the long-term result instead.

It’s similar to the proverb from Lao Tzu:

'Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime'.

Learning how to fish is the knowledge that you acquire, and the fish is your paycheck, which is why it's so incredibly important to prioritise learning above everything else, especially when you’re young.

When you’re young and you’re able to take on a large amount of risk, prioritising learning over earning has to be the main focus of your life, as that opportunity doesn’t come around later on in life.

When bills, responsibilities, and mouths to feed start to stack up, you won’t always have the option to prioritise learning over earning, as there is too much on the line.

When you’re young, don’t look for a job that pays well; look for a job where you can learn from someone that you aspire to be like. If that means that you have to work for free, then so be it.

You should be happy to let them exploit your cheap and eager spirit because that's where the real value is taught, when the exchange isn’t money and time but instead time and wisdom.

ACTIONABLE NEXT STEPS:

Think of it this way: while money may come and go, the skills and knowledge you gain will stay with you, serving as a solid foundation for your future.

So, embrace learning as your primary currency and watch as opportunities for financial success naturally unfold.

In the end, by valuing learning above all else, you will set the stage for your creative expansion, and the money will soon come to you.

LESSON OF THE DAY ⤵️

“What should I do to start making money?“

Anonymous

Money comes when problems are solved and the solutions to those problems are monetized, which means that if you want to start making money, the best thing that you can possibly do is become a problem solver.

Spend your time trying to identify problems that people have that you can then figure out a way to solve.

If the problem is apparent enough and your solution is effective enough, you’ll have no trouble making any money.
