đł The Law Of 'The Pain Period'
Arnold Schwarzenegger (a world-renowned body-builder) always used to talk about what he called âthe pain period.â A term he refers to when working out meaning you have to go through the pain and struggle to grow.
QUOTE OF THE DAY
âThe last three or four reps is what makes the muscle grow. This area of pain divides the champion from someone else who is not a champion. Thatâs what most people lack, having the guts to go on and just say theyâll go through the pain no matter what happens.â
THE LAW OF PAIN
Arnold Schwarzenegger (a world-renowned body-builder) always used to talk about what he called âthe pain period.â A term he refers to when working out meaning you have to go through the pain and struggle to grow.
âLook, nobody is building any muscle on the first rep, the second rep, or even on the ninth. Once you hit the wall on, say the tenth rep, and you go five more, thatâs when youâll start to grow! Given proper recovery afterwards, your muscles will grow back bigger and stronger.â
Itâs the same in all areas of life. Move through the pain period. Look for the pain, and push past your perceived limits. The pain ends, and then the pleasure seeps inâŠbut only if you make it to the other side.
Lean into the pain that comes up when you push past where you were before. Thatâs where the growth comes from. Youâre forcing your body and mind and spirit to adapt to a stress that youâve never placed upon it before.
The difficult thing is to know when youâve entered a pain period and havenât just turned in the wrong direction. Some pain periods are disguised as just pure discomfort and annoyance such as working a job that you donât want to work in order to build up your business that you know will become the next big thing. So it isnât always the case that you have to enter the âpain periodâ and then it will stop, sometimes you have to endure it for a certain period of time to make the reward bigger.
ACTIONABLE NEXT STEPS:
Donât be afraid to enter the âpain periodâ. Itâs sure scary because you wonât like it and itâs not something that youâll want to do but youâll be better off for it. Similar to how failure is part of the process, pain is too.
TAKEAWAYS:
Thereâs a âpain periodâ in all aspects of life. Itâs your job to assess it and get through it.
