HOW TO HANDLE CRITICISM

315 Words | 1 Min 9 Sec Read

Handling criticism is easy.

If you respect the person, listen to the criticism and improve.

If you don’t respect the person, then f**k them. Who cares?

No, but seriously, It’s as simple as that, similar to when it comes to taking advice: you should never take advice from someone who's not in a place that you want to be, just like you should never take criticism from someone that you don’t respect.

There is no shortage of criticism in the world we live in, especially when it comes to social media.

It’s almost too easy for someone to comment something negative from behind a screen 30,000 miles away in a split second with no repercussions.

In fact, it's easier for people to comment on something negative than something positive in order to satisfy their own egos, which means that the negative comments in real life and online constantly overpower the positive ones.

Be the stupidest person in the room.

Just because you shouldn’t take criticism from everyone doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t remain the stupidest person in the room, because the stupidest person in the room is the person who always has something else to learn.

And that's a superpower to have.

ACTIONABLE NEXT STEPS:

Next time criticism is thrown your way, and there will be a next time, don’t just blankly take it.

First, think about who is criticising you. Are they in a position that you want to be in, and do you respect them as a person? If not, then there's no need to get worked up about it; they are just shooting empty shells of noise your way.

Do you respect them? If so, then take what they are saying, analyse it, and act accordingly. No one is perfect the first time around, and therefore, taking advice from those that you care about is a luxury that many others don’t get.

LESSON OF THE DAY ⤵️

“I’m am a 15 year old student athlete who has been doing a lot of research into finance/day trading for the past few months but has had difficulty working on it during the high volume trading hours (when I am doing sport or am at school). Now I am interested in going into entrepreneurship and starting a business. However, I am having trouble finding a business idea that “fits”. What should I do?”

Don’t look for a business that “fits” and instead look for a problem that you can create a solution to and then work out a way to monetise the solution.

More often than not, the best business you can create is one that scratches your own itch, one that solves your own problem because that way you can create the best solution possible.

Another piece of advice is to not spread yourself out too thin. Give one thing all of your deserved attention until you see if it works, heres an edition we did that explains that it more detail.
