Everything You Want Has A Cost

Everything that you want to achieve has a cost associated with it; everything you want to achieve has an equal and opposite price that you’re going to have to pay if you truly want that thing.

EVERYTHING HAS A COST

350 Words | 1 Min 16 Sec Read

Everything that you want to achieve has a cost associated with it; everything you want to achieve has an equal and opposite price that you’re going to have to pay if you truly want that thing.

You want a lot of money? That's going to cost you time, energy, and relationships.

You want a dream physique? It’s going to cost you your comfort and instant gratification and require sacrifices to be made.

If you want the opportunity of a lifetime, it's going to cost you, and until you realise that you need to pay the price for the things that you want to achieve, you won’t achieve those things.

This is a principle that won’t come easy; if there was a physical price tag on what we wanted, it would be simple! Pay the price tag, and we get the thing, but the problem is that we don’t know what the price tag is.

The fact that there is a cost to every goal is what makes the goal worthwhile because if becoming a world-class athlete didn’t require you to make countless sacrifices, have grit that 99% of people don’t have, and train for decades to get to that point, then everyone would become a world-class athlete.

So next time you’re in a dark place while working towards certain goals, just know that the place that you’re in is the cost you’re paying to achieve your goals.

ACTIONABLE NEXT STEPS:

Next time you wonder why you’re not in the place you want to be, ask yourself the question, ‘Am I paying the necessary cost in order to get there?’

Because if you’re not, you’ve found the reason why.

Your best next step from here is to get comfortable with paying the cost.

Get comfortable with the idea that nothing in life is free, and more often than not, it requires you to make sacrifices and give up things you wouldn’t have dreamed of in order to achieve what you truly want.

The more comfortable you get with paying the price, the easier the prize come.

LESSON OF THE DAY ⤵️

“I find myself listening to every self help podcast, reading books and watching video's, despite this I feel like I haven’t learned to take action. How do I overcome laziness and get through procrastination?”

- Anonymous

Realise that you don’t ‘learn to take action’. You absorb the information and then take action on that information. You have all the information that you need, which means now it's about putting that information into place and acting on it.

Don’t read another book or listen to another podcast until you’ve taken action on what you've learned from the previous ones you have; otherwise, what's the point of learning from them?

A good method is to use it to take it one chapter at a time. Read a chapter of a book and ask yourself, "What action can I take from this?’ If there is none, move on; if there is, then take that action before moving on.
