The Contradictions of Success

Success is one massive contradiction. It requires you to sacrifice your happiness now for happiness later on; it requires you to give up things you love in order for greater things down the line; and it also requires you to do things that you don’t want to do in order to end up doing things you do want to do.

THE CONTRADICTIONS OF SUCCESS

371 Words | 1 Min 21 Sec Read

Success is one massive contradiction.

It requires you to sacrifice your happiness now for happiness later on; it requires you to give up things you love in order for greater things down the line; and it also requires you to do things that you don’t want to do in order to end up doing things you do want to do.

Although that all sounds quite miserable, it’s all part of the process, but there is one contradiction that is much less frequently talked about:

That is the contradiction: you must have extreme paranoia about the present and also have an unshakable faith in the future.

You must acknowledge that your present circumstances can change in the blink of an eye, especially when you least expect it.

So, be vigilant, embrace every opportunity, and constantly look for ways to adapt to fit the current market.

This doesn’t mean that you’re changing your end goal, but simply that you’re finding another vehicle to take you to that end destination.

But at the same time, you must be 100% confident in your future success, no matter what anyone says or whoever gets in the way.

You must be borderline delusional in your own ability to succeed despite having little to no proof and little to no one to back you up.

That is the biggest contradiction of success that there is—fear and belief all mixed into one.

If you can master the two of them, then you’re right where you need to be.

Listen to what your audience wants and identify the problem that they have, then create a solution to that problem.

Another way to do it is to create a solution to a problem that the previous version of you had, because chances are that if it helps a prior version of you, it will help out your audience too.

But make sure that you create this product or service with the intention to help and not profit, because the more you help, the more you will inevitably profit anyway.
