šŸŒ³ How to Consistently Grow Without Fail

The Idea of self-improvement can be overwhelming, we see people who have achieved utter greatness, have done incredible things and have lived many lives and it makes you feel small and incomplete and those achievements so far-fetched. In contrast, all you have to do is tweak the perspective. Those people didn't wake up one day and achieve those things, it was a compounded effect of trials & tribulations, failure after failure and most importantly small bits of consistent growth.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

ā€œThere is no passion to be found playing smallā€”in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.ā€

Nelson Mandela

HOW TO CONSISTENTLY GROW WITHOUT FAIL

The Idea of self-improvement can be overwhelming, we see people who have achieved utter greatness, have done incredible things and have lived many lives and it makes you feel small and incomplete and those achievements so far-fetched. In contrast, all you have to do is tweak the perspective. Those people didn't wake up one day and achieve those things, it was a compounded effect of trials & tribulations, failure after failure and most importantly small bits of consistent growth.

Don't focus on changing your entire life in one sitting.

Focus on improving just 1% each day, and do one small thing every day that helps you grow as a person (this newsletter is just that!)

The problem is, if you try to change everything in a small timeline your growth will be extremely inconsistent. If you change your diet, lifestyle, circle of friends, your job all within a small time frame it won't last. You'll find yourself improving and crashing over and over again and you'll end up not far off where you started.

If you just focus on 1% Improvement every single day you'll end up 37x better by the end of just one year. This is why small choices don't make much of a difference at the time but add up over the long term.

The caveat to this method of growth is that you can't tell it's happening until enough time has passed.

Growing 1% each day doesn't have an effect in the short term so that's why it's best to zoom out on your own graph. Stop looking at it from a 2-week perspective or a 3-month one and change it to a 2-year or 5-year perspective. Similar to how compound interest works so does this method of growth.

This is a lesson from James Clear in his book Atomic habits (which you can buy HERE!)

The human brain loves logic (the male one especially) and therefore being able to break up such a big and seemingly never-ending goal into digestible chunks is a much more efficient way to look at it.

How can you grow 1% every day?

Create non-negotiables for yourself. Growing every day doesnā€™t mean you have to do something new every day it just means you have to stick consistently with your goals as over time they will compound before your very eyes!

Make your non-negotiables something that will slightly put you outside your comfort zone but not enough to the point where you wonā€™t be able to stick to them every day. You want to make them just within reach so that you still have to stretch but itā€™s possible, this can be anything such as waking up earlier, sticking to a certain diet, or reading a certain amount of pages in a book per day. You can customise it to your specific goals.

ACTIONABLE NEXT STEPS:

Focus on 1%, and create a plan for yourself that you look forward to executing.

TAKEAWAYS:

All you have to do is tweak the perspective. If it seems like too big of a task then break it down into something more digestible.
