QUOTE OF THE DAY

"Don't speak negatively about yourself, even as a joke. Your body doesn't know the difference. Words are energy and cast spells, that's why it's called spelling. Change the way you speak about yourself and you can change your life. What you're not changing, you're also choosing."

Bruce Lee

In simple terms, Change the way you speak about yourself and you can change your life

What is the 80/20 rule?

The 80/20 rule states that for many outcomes, roughly 80% of consequences come from 20% of causes. In other words, a small percentage of causes have an outsized effect. This concept is important to understand because it can help you identify which initiatives to prioritize so you can make the most impact.

How you can use it to your advantage:

You can use the 80/20 rule to prioritize the tasks that you need to get done during the day.

The idea is that out of your entire task list, completing 20% of those tasks will result in 80% of the impact you can create for that day. So in order to get the most impact done, identify which tasks have the most impact and focus on those for the day.

To do this, list out all of the things that you need to get done that day. Then identify which of those tasks have the highest impact. These tasks may be simple in execution, but they can make a large impact by allowing the process to keep flowing.

This rule tends to fall into all areas of life, 20% of the people you hang around produce 80% of your happiness, 20% of the book that you read actually provides 80% of the knowledge and it’s all about assessing what that 20% is because that’s the hardest bit for the majority of people. It will come with time, you won’t know straight away that 80% of your friends are sucking energy from you until you spend time with them.

Therefore all you have to do is assess and be selfish in looking after yourself.

ACTIONABLE NEXT STEPS:

See where the 80/20 rule applies in your life and take advantage of it. What is the 20% of effort that you have to put in to produce 80% of the outcome?

TAKEAWAYS:

The 80/20 rule applies in all areas of life: 80% of the public uses 20% of their computers' features. 80% of crimes are committed by 20% of criminals. 80% of sales are from 20% of clients.
